A Grell Tale

We are so glad you have taken time to check in on our lives. First and foremost, God is the author of this story. Every thing we do, say, and have is His.
Jared and I have been together since 1998, and married since 2003. After four long years of trusting God, he blessed us on August 1, 2009. Balen James is the most "perfect-for-us" little man in the world! We LOVE being parents and just can't get enough of him.
I love to spend time sharing our story with you, and I truly enjoy getting to hear your comments as well! We hope you enjoy watching our family grow. Thanks for stopping by.

Smokin' Hot Pepper Man!

Here's our little chili pepper! Don't you just want to squeeze those fat cheeks! Jared said he looks like an OU Sooner Mermaid with Seaweed on his head! I think that's stretching it a little. I'm quite proud of my little pepper. I would bet money that he's the only little pepper around for miles. That's what I was shooting for. I wanted a costume that everyone else didn't have. We were talking to Josh and my cousin Ashley, and all of our kids are food items this year. We have a pepper, hotdog, mustard, and a cupcake for dessert. I wish we were all closer so we could get them together to take pictures.
GiGi took her first graders to the pumpkin patch on Thursday. She saw this little pumpkin growing in the field and had to have it for Balen. It's just his size. So cute!

It's nice to have a beautiful day to be outside with my boys. It's been a rough week. Jared has been home sick, then I caught it. We have both been to the doctor and have sinus infections. Grandpa Harvey also had to go into the hospital. His heart is failing and there isn't much they can do. Yesterday they were giving him a few hours to a few days to live so Jared took us to visit him. It was so nice see him talking and telling stories. At the same time, my amazing mother has been home taking care of Mema. She was put in the nursing home yesterday. This in itself is a huge thing for all of us. My mom has worked so hard getting her room all ready and getting her situated while my dad is spending time with Grandpa. I still have all four of my wonderful Grandparents and it is hard to see them struggling. I have had so many fun times with them and have tons of memories to cherish forever. I love them all so much!

3 Months Old!

Little Balen Boy is three months old. Mommy and Daddy LOVE the pieces out this little man. He has brought so much joy into our home. Mom's favorite milestone this month has been sleeping all night long. I love that he isn't an early riser. He usually wakes up between 8 or 9. Balen is getting so strong. He loves to stand up and has rolled over twice in his bed.
But more than anything in the world, Mom loves seeing these two guys loving on each other. Jared is the most amazing Daddy. I always tell Balen how lucky he is. It is so fun listening and watching these two play. I can't believe its been three months. He's such a happy little man!

My Name Is Earl!

It's just been crazy around the Grell household. It has been so long since I have sat down and wrote anything. Let's see. Last week I attempted to host a Premier Jewelry Party. Notice I said attempted! I worked my booty of cleaning my house. By the way, I am learning that having a baby brings a whole new meaning to the act of cleaning. It is done on Balen's terms, not mine, which means I have to start days earlier than I would have. Anyway, long story short, jewelry lady didn't get invitations sent and not a single person showed up! So that was fun.

We also took family pictures last week. I have already posted a few of those. We wanted to get some good pictures before Mark lost his hair. He started his first round of chemo on Monday and Tuesday. He is home and doing okay.

Then on Friday Balen and I took off for Stillwater to spend the day with Brandi and Jillian before everyone showed up for walkaround. We had the best weekend. Every year my college friends and husbands/boyfriends meet up at homecoming. This year we all spent the night together at Brandi and Adam's house in Stillwater. We cooked dinner, went to walkaround, then had game night!

The next morning I attended my first tea party! Scott and Bethany were up from Houston and are expecting a sweet baby boy in December. Instead of doing a huge shower we had a sweet little tea party. Brandi had jams, scones, and creams imported from England. Krissa also made some very yummy baked oatmeal. I hope it was special for Bethany. It was so fun just relaxing and catching up with everyone!

These last pictures are hilarious! Balen loves to sit up like a big boy on the couch. Jared sat him up while I was cooking dinner. When he came back inside Balen was still just chillin' watching My Name is Earl on TV! Aren't we great parents! You have to look hard to see the little guy on the couch!

And last, but certainly not least, we have had THREE consecutive nights of precious sleep. He sleeps through the night here and there but the last three nights have all been perfect! Go Balen!!

Family

Many of you have been asking about Mark. He will be getting his port put in Monday and starting chemo. He also found out this week at MD Anderson that once his chemo is finished he will have to have a stem cell transplant. This is a very difficult time for the family. Please keep everyone in your prayers.

Jude and Balen

A few weeks ago Laura (Wooderson) Sappenfield was in town staying a few days with her mom. Balen and I stopped by one evening to play for a bit. They were so fun together. Here are a few pictures of them together. It is so neat to see our boys together. Very special!

2 month check up

The little man went to the doctor today. We survived the first round of shots. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but he is getting a little spoiled this evening. He is a tall little booger. His ranks in the 90th percentile for height and the 60th for weight. He is 12 lbs. 4 oz. and 24 inches long. Growing too fast!

Grandpa Mark has an appointment at MD Anderson on Wednesday morning. He is going for a second opinion.
