A Grell Tale

We are so glad you have taken time to check in on our lives. First and foremost, God is the author of this story. Every thing we do, say, and have is His.
Jared and I have been together since 1998, and married since 2003. After four long years of trusting God, he blessed us on August 1, 2009. Balen James is the most "perfect-for-us" little man in the world! We LOVE being parents and just can't get enough of him.
I love to spend time sharing our story with you, and I truly enjoy getting to hear your comments as well! We hope you enjoy watching our family grow. Thanks for stopping by.

Picture Time

I wanted some pictures so I can always remember what baby Balen looked like in my tummy.
Laura came out to help me pose while Jared took some pictures. Thanks friend, we couldn't have done it without you!!

Note to self..

..32 weeks is the first time I have had to get onto my son for misbehaving! :) He has definitely found his way into my ribs! This week also marks the first week it has become uncomfortable. I was so proud of myself up until now for not complaining too much! Even with the jabs I still enjoy being pregnant and really think I am going to kind of miss it. Maybe its because everyone is so nice to me! :) 8 more weeks to go. Nursery is coming along.

I don't normally post belly pics but I am going to document this busy week inside my belly!

Gary is home!

They kicked him out yesterday, ready or not!  He had a little problem with the solid foods so that switched up back to liquids.  Even so, he called yesterday and told my mom they really think thats the only problem and that he should be okay.  They didn't feel there is anything they could do for him so they were sending him on his way.  He is glad to be home and does feel better than the first time he came home.  He is very weak and it will take time to build back his strength and what his stomach can handle.

Gary

Dad is improving!  He had his first bowel movement on Saturday.  That is what we have been waiting for. :)  Yesterday they felt he was well enough to pull the tube that is pumping out his stomach and try him on a liquid diet.  He is handling it well and continuing to go to the bathroom so today they are going to try him on foods and see if he is able to go on his own.  As for the actual diagnosis, well who really knows.  We were able to go see him Saturday and even in the few hours we were there two doctors came in and totally contradicted each other!  Isn't it great.  They have moved from the heart, to the esophagus, to the intestines, to the pancreas, back to the chest????  I'm pretty much sure they just don't know.  The good news is the pain is finally starting to improve and his intestines are starting to work again.  He may get to come home in the next day or so.

Gary-Friday night

My mom said a surgeon finally came in to look at dad and said he is not totally convinced it is intestinal obstruction????  He thinks if that was the problem he should be vomiting quite a bit.  He has decided to schedule a cat scan.  My mom was very relieved because maybe now we really can see what is wrong??  Pain has not eased up at all.  She said it is just awful to watch him be so miserable.  Not sure exactly when the cat scan is scheduled.  She did say if they found anything they would try to take care of it immediately.

Little Jillian

I got to spend the day with my friend Brandi and her sweet Little Jillian. Here are a few pictures I took.

Gary- Friday update

I just called my mom.  Nothing has really changed.  They got him to a room and have the tube running down to pump out anything else trying to go down.  I figured that would help with pain but I guess all of the pain is coming from the obstruction and he will not have any relief until that passes.  They are trying to wait as long as they can to see if it will take care of itself.  If not, they will probably have to go in and surgically remove it.  She said they are on a really crummy floor.  When you call for a nurse it takes forever for them to come and they don't really keep too close of an eye on him.  He went down for x rays this morning but mom hasn't heard any results yet.

On a more positive note my friend Lindsay had her baby last night.  Miss Brinley Kate Reese weighed 7 lbs. and was born at 10:19.  This can only mean one thing...I'm next in line!  AAAGGGHHH!  9 more weeks to go.  I just have to keep reminding myself of the millions and millions of other women who have made it through.  Surely I can do it! :)

Gary Update

My mom took dad back to the ER in OKC this morning.  He has been in miserable pain and hasn't been able to take anything.  They finally figured out he has an obstruction in his small intestine.  They are going to admit him and probably start by going in through his throat to clean him out a little and hopefully relieve some of the pressure and pain.  From what I understand, his intestine has pretty much been blocked and he hasn't been able to use the bathroom in over a week.  Not sure yet what they will do to take care of the actual problem??  When she called around 1:00 she said he is in A LOT of pain and still wasn't able to take anything for it.  Hopefully they will get it under control soon.

Remodeling Upstairs can be "hail"!!

That was by far my lamest attempt yet at coming up with a creative title! Sorry about that. I just wanted to include my hail picture from our storm last night. It was huge and loud and all I could do was whine about my pretty plants. They survived okay. I think we will all make it! :)

Back to the remodeling, what started out as a one room update quickly turned into a four room update! In the past week we have have pulled carpet, stripped wallpaper, textured and painted one ceiling and three bedrooms! It has been mighty busy around here. We were rushing because OLD Mr. Floor Man is starting tomorrow. I wanted to have as much of the mess out of the way as possible. It is cheaper to have him redo our hardwood than installing carpet. I can't wait to see it all finished.
The first picture is where we are on Balen's room. It is actually a little greener than the picture shows. The bottom is going to be dark brown bead board. New windows for his room should be ready in the next week or two.
This is me working on pulling out staples. I am 31 weeks pregnant even though this picture would lead you to think other wise. This is the color of all the other bedrooms. We no longer have ANY carpet from the 70's and it already feels so much cleaner and smells so much better. I would like to make note of who is working here and who is taking the pictures!! Just kidding Jared!

Pray for Gary and Teena

He is home and not doing good at all.  Now that he is home the chest pains are just as bad as when he went in.  The problem is that there is nothing wrong with his heart or esophagus.  It is really weird and seems like it may be his liver.  They have dumped so many pain medications down him and maybe they are not mixing well.  He is now having to sit without taking anything.  My mom is trying to figure out what to do with him.  She is talking to a new doctor's office who is getting his records and trying to figure out what is going on.  They said they can't see him until Tuesday anyway??  They are going to get back with her today if they figure anything out.  She doesn't really want to take him to the emergency room, then back to OKC, because they didn't know what it was either and they are the ones who just sent him home.  Pray for wisdom and relief of pain.  Also pray for Teena.  She is going to need peace, wisdom, rest, and strength from God.  Thanks.

Gary Update 3

Teena is home for a short break from hospital life.  I think it was beginning to drive her nuts.  They have now decided to move the scope from today to tomorrow.  Hopefully Tuesday morning we will know something and he will get to come home soon.

Gary Update 2

Dad was supposed to get to come home today but they have decided to keep him.  He is still having some chest pains and they are going to do a scope on him tomorrow (Monday) to see if it is his esophagus or heart.  They would hate to send him home without knowing for sure.

Gary Update

Dad started having chest pains last night but got up and went to work this morning.  He had to walk to the bank and post office and realized they were pretty bad.  He called my mom to come pick him up and take him to the emergency room.  They flew him to Baptist in OKC.  By the time we got there he had already had a heart cath and they said they found 80% blockage on the right side.  His triple bypass was 9 years ago and they all still look great.  They went ahead and put in a stint.  I left the city about 5:30.  They already moved him to his own room and my mom is staying with him.  They are thinking if things go okay he might come home tomorrow night or Sunday.  If I find out anything else I will let you know.  Thanks for the prayers.

Eeew Yucky!

I am opening my door this morning and allowing you to come into my refrigerator! I also challenge you to clean em' out. That was my task this morning and I was amazed at how much outdated crap we keep in our fridge! :) It's almost a little embarrassing but I'm sure everyone else's is just as bad. I know I am a dork but I thought I would document my trash for you to make you feel a little better about yourself if you are one of the few who actually cleans out your fridge more than once every 3 years! Have a good day. I'm headed to the trash!

Flowers to Brighten your day!

We have these pretty little roses out by the road but I have never really paid much attention to them because they don't last long. I noticed them today and thought I would take a few pictures of them just for fun!

Yippy Skippy!

The doctor called! Good news all around. My placenta has moved itself out of the way and I passed all of my glucose tests! They took me off of pelvic rest and took away the weight restrictions on my lifting. I'll still be smart but at least now I won't be so nervous!
