Our last day in Houston felt like we were on vacation. We got to spend the afternoon at the pool, then J and I took Balen to the zoo, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from their apartment. We went two hours before they closed, which was perfect. It wasn't quite as hot and most of the people had cleared out. B really seemed to enjoy it more than I thought he would. He babbled and talked the whole time. He would point and talk to all the animals. He has been such a good boy all weekend.
We aren't used to the Houston humidity so we had to have a little Root Beer float!
This friendly little squirrel was one of the highlights for Balen. Sad we had to go to the zoo to see a squirrel!
The monkeys were the main reason we went to the zoo. They were a little disappointing to us, but he didn't seem to mind. The last pictures are on our way home from the zoo. This is the park across the street from their apartment that you walk through to get to and from the zoo. It is lined with beautiful live oaks, people exercising, walking dogs, and tons of families having picnics and playing. It is such a different lifestyle than we lead. We had Terrie meet us with my camera so we could get a few pictures before we go home.
